the glitch portrait collection — this portrait series, comprising more than thirty works, shifts attention from likeness to duality, exploring the double-faced presence each figure seems to carry. born from a serendipitous silkscreen misprint, the process developed into a deliberate inquiry, balancing chance and intention. working in mixed media, the series extends this exploration through the layered use of silkscreen, acrylic, and crayon on archival paper. 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in each.

The art of becoming.

At the heart of Joost Hulsbosch’s practice lies an ongoing search for change: for becoming rather than being, for movement rather than stillness, for the endless possibility of emergence. Rather than working within a fixed style, his practice is driven by ideas. Concepts evolve into themes, and themes unfold through shifting visual languages, from abstraction to figuration, within a body of work shaped by continuous experimentation. Variation is part of the method. Change is the constant.

“To truly grasp Joost Hulsbosch’s art, one must take in the full breadth of his oeuvre. Moving freely across styles and techniques, he embraces change and experimentation as his constant. A single style would limit him. Yet within this diversity, a quiet force endures — an energy that provokes, draws you in, and at times, dazzles.”
